Chuncheon 2026 Poomsae: Korea Leads with 13 Golds

After three days in Chuncheon, Korea leads the 2026 World Taekwondo Poomsae Championships with 13 golds. Chinese Taipei, France, Vietnam and China also won titles on day three, with 17 of 42 titles still to be decided.

The 2026 World Taekwondo Poomsae Championships in Chuncheon have reached the halfway point. With the third day of competition (18 September) complete, 25 world titles have been decided and hosts Korea lead with 13 golds, while Chinese Taipei, France, Vietnam and China each claimed a title on the day.

Day three: Korea takes four more titles

Eight titles were contested on the third day and Korea took four of them. In the Male Cadet final, Tae Young Kim of Korea beat Shine-Erdene Tserendejid of Mongolia, with Dayrius Ding Heng Low of Singapore and Alan Dae Yon Kim Lee of Mexico taking bronze.

Min Sang Kim of Korea then won the Male Under 60 division against Simon Negus of Great Britain, while June Ninobla of the Philippines and Michail Rodin of Russia shared bronze.

Korea also held firm in the team and female divisions. Joy Lee, Song Seoyun Song and Dahyeon Choi took the Female Team Cadet title for Korea ahead of the United States trio of Dina Dorack, Arianna Lee and Kori Tsang, with Chinese Taipei and Hong Kong, China sharing bronze. Tae Lee Kim then won the Female Under 17 final against Yimeng Lei of China, with Hsiang Chu Hsu of Chinese Taipei and Natnaree Kumsa-Ad of Thailand earning bronze.

Four nations break through: Chinese Taipei, France, Vietnam, China

Min Yu Hsieh of Chinese Taipei won the Male Junior final against Behdad Naghiee of Iran, with Whye Jing Ong of the United States and Caleb Angel Calde of the Philippines taking bronze. In the Female Over 65 division, Mireille Aunac of France beat Leni Niedermayr of Austria, while Julie Tregeagle of the United States and Eduarda Ferraz of Portugal shared bronze.

The pair events brought further changes. Vietnam pair Thien Phung Nguyen and Thi Le Kim Nguyen won the Pair Under 50 title against Charlotte Pedersen and Benjamin Harder of Denmark, with Iran and Malaysia taking bronze. The day closed with gold for Tao Zhang and Sitong Lin of China in the Pair Over 17 final against Jihyun Kim and Jin Ho Lee of Korea, with Canada and Iran sharing bronze.

Halfway: 25 titles decided, Korea leads with 13 golds

After three days Korea lead with 13 golds, more than half of the 25 titles decided so far. Korea took four of eight titles on day one and five of nine on day two (see our day-one report). Chinese Taipei and the United States have two golds each, while China, France, Vietnam, Great Britain, Mongolia, Spain, Brazil and Norway have one apiece.

The championships carry 42 medal events across recognised and freestyle poomsae in individual, pair and team formats, with 17 titles still to be decided on 19 and 20 September. Coverage of past editions and rule explainers can be found in our tournament news section.

Halfway through, Korea lead with 13 golds, more than half of the 25 titles decided. Chinese Taipei and the United States hold two golds each, and China, France and Vietnam are among the nations on the board, keeping the poomsae field multi-polar.

What the results show: individual, pair and team carry equal weight

Three days of results reveal the basic structure of poomsae: individual events reward precision and consistency of technique, while pair and team events put synchronisation and formation control first. The Korean national team’s 13 golds span individual, pair and team categories; Chinese Taipei have won in Male Junior and Female Under 40; the United States have collected medals across a wide spread of divisions.

Pair events delivered two titles on day three (Vietnam and China). Only one team title was decided that day, Female Team Cadet for Korea, while the Male Team Under 60 gold went to Spain on day two. For national squads, team poomsae demands more than individual technique: three athletes must share rhythm and breathing, which is why many teams schedule team events as a separate block.

From the floor to procurement: poomsae uniforms and team kit

On the procurement side, taekwondo equipment choices differ between poomsae and kyorugi. The store lists two poomsae-specific uniforms: Taebek 2 Poomsae Uniform Dan Male and Taebek 2.1 Poomsae Uniform Dan Female, both cut for poomsae and intended for dan holders. When outfitting a dojang or a national squad, plan sizes and quantities around squad size, belt structure and size distribution.

If your dojang is outfitting its poomsae squad for the coming season, send your squad size, belt structure, common sizes and region through the enquiry channel on our website and we will come back with kit and bulk-purchase recommendations. Distribution and partnership requests are handled by a dedicated contact as well.
